The Reason For Christmas

Today most everyone is celebrating Christmas with family and friends.
My family will be coming in this evening for our time together.

Most of us have probably been busy for weeks getting ready for this special day.
We've been decorating our homes, running here and there trying to find the perfect gifts for our loved ones.   But I wonder, how many of us have stopped to think of the reason for Christmas.

When God looked down on humankind, He knew we would need a Savior. He had a plan from the beginning to rescue us from the evil that had invaded the world.

God's Son, Jesus Christ, is the  only key that  unlocks the prison that we are in because of sin.  He agreed to take the sentence of death  for all the sins of the world, so that we could walk out of the prison of sin and eternal death a free person.

Ephesians 3:11-12 -  According to His eternal purpose He accomplished in Christ Jesus our
Lord.  In Him and through faith in Him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

When we accept Christ, we become rooted in His love.  He is the source of our new life.
The love of  Christ nourishes our life.
 It causes us to grow.

Christ's love is my foundation, my new life is built on God's love.

I John 4:16-17. 19 - And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.   God is love.  Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.  This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment.  We love because He first loved us.

We will never be able to find the end of God's love.
It is a sure foundation.
It is stable
It won't decay
It will always, at all times, support us in every way possible.

God wants us to come to know Him through experiencing His love to such a depth as this.

As for me, I've come to realize that God's love is the true source
of strength and motivation to love others.

Your Turn...
How has knowing God, and embracing His love for you impacted your life?
